What are the regulations for the Dimensions of a Padel Racket?

Whilst looking for a padel racket, I started to wonder, how big a padel racket head could be, or could I get a really long padel racket, like the length of a tennis racket?

The International Padel Federation (FIP) has set the following standard dimensions for padel rackets:

Padel Head:

  • Length: 45.5 centimeters
  • Width: 26 centimeters
  • Thickness: 38 millimeters (2.5% tolerance)

Padel Handle

  • Length 20 centimeters
  • Thickness 50 millimeters

The total length of a padel racket may only be 45.5 centimeters including the handle.

These dimensions are maximums, so rackets can be smaller than these dimensions. However, they cannot be larger than these dimensions.

The FIP also states that the hitting surface of the racket is to be perforated with an unlimited number of cylindrical holes, each measuring between 9 and 13mm in diameter.

The FIP also has rules about the weight of padel rackets. The weight of a padel racket must be between 340 and 390 grams.

There is also a requirement for a padel racket to have a non-elastic cord of maximum length 35 centimeters fixed into the handle, so that the player can put the cord around their wrist and protect against accidents.

The FIP's rules about the dimensions and weight of padel rackets are designed to ensure that all players have a fair chance to compete. They also help to prevent injuries.

If you are looking to buy your first padel racket, rest assured that the padel rackets sold on thepadelshop.co.nz are made by reputable padel brands.
